You are bidding on a 45TH anniversary Beautiful Complete Mint Set of John F. Kennedy Half Dollars from 1964 to 2009 both Philadelphia and Denver. This set took many years to collect and represents 45 Years of coin collecting. The two 1964 coins contain 90% pure silver and the next six coins (1965-1970) contain 40% silver. The remaining 76 coins are clad. This set contains no cleaned coins as far as I know and are all uncirculated. This beautiful set of coins come in three nice Littleton Albums with the 3d volume having 24 spaces for future Kennedy Half Dollars. This outstanding complete mint set of JFK Halves would make a great gift for a beginner since continuance of the Kennedy Half dollar program is not expected to ever end. This set would also add to a collection of coins for the serious coin collector. The Kennedy half dollar was created to honor America's 35Th president, John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. If you were living in 1963, and old enough, you will always remember what you were doing at the time of our young President's death because it was a very sad day for most Americans. I was fortunate enough to be living in those days and saw innocence of the American People, before he was murdered, change to the beginning of a period of hate, civil unrest and the Vietnam War. The design of the coin was finalized just weeks after President Kennedy's untimely death, and the necessary legislation authorizing the new half dollar breezed through Congress. Regular-issue production of the new coins was under way by the end of January 1964, a mere two months after that fateful day in Dallas. Because of time constraints, it was decided to base the half dollar's obverse design on Chief Engraver Gilroy Roberts's, Kennedy inaugural medal, including some suggestions offered by the President's widow, Jackie. The mint mark on coins dated 1964 is on the reverse, to the left of the olive branch stem that is grasped in the eagle's claw. Mint marks do not appear on coins dated 1965-1967, but can be found beginning in 1968 on the obverse, just below the truncation of Kennedy,s neck. To celebrate America's Bicentennial, Kennedy half dollars produced in 1975 and 1976 were minted with special dual dating (1776-1976) on the obverse and a commemorative design on the reverse depicting a view of Independence Hall. I am starting the bid with the face value of these 84 coins at $42.00 and offering priority shipping at $8.50 and mandatory insurance at $2.75. Should you not agree with the insurance I will insure your coins for free anyway. Questions will be answered by email and I have a 7 day money back guarantee. Thank you for looking at this wonderful set of Kennedy half dollars and pleasant bidding.
