Miller's prints were always interesting with an indescribable quality that lifted them above the normal and commonplace even though his subjects were often just ordinary people. In this work he used a minimum of etched lines against a background of plate toning to create a dramatic effect. It's a beautiful, innocent and unpretentious image of a young woman, maybe a nun or a novice. The features are so plain and nondescript that the work takes on a universal quality.
