MACY'S THANKSGIVING PARADE (Woody Woodpecker) 1983
This is out of print and very rare.
Current secondary market value is $200.
It is as much of a tradition as turkey dinner and football -- every November huge balloons fill the air above 5th Avenue in New York City. In Melanie Taylor Kent's poster of the Parade the character balloons include Woody Woodpecker, Snoopy, Superman, Yogi Bear, and Olive Oyl from Popeye. In the background, King Kong stands atop the Empire State Building surrounded by the rest of the New York City Skyline. All are executed in Kent's inimitable colorful and playful style. Schooled at UCLA, California artist Kent has become a collecting phenomenon. Her original silkscreens currently command thousands of dollars. This is a very hard-to-find poster from 1983. It's overall paper size is 30" by 24". Image size is 26 1/2" by 19 1/2" overall.
This piece has never been framed, is in very good condition (only a very few minor dings along the edge that will be covered once framed), and printed on high-quality paper. It far exceeds the quality of a normal poster. Buyer to add $8 for Priority Mail shipping and insurance within the U.S. (Canada $16; All other international $25).
