J Kent Olde Foley Ware Confeucian Dragon Luster Vases (2), Frederick Rhead c1910 This fantastic pair of vases from the James Kent LTD Olde Foley Ware range feature the lustre Confeucian Dragon design which was created by Frederick Rhead. The shape and design date from the early 20th Century, around 1910. The base has a J Kent mark I have never seen before and cannot find any trace of. As you can see in the images, the J Kent logo is contained within a swastika. These are pre war pieces made around 1910, and it is certain that this has nothing to do with the symbols usage after the 1930s. At the time it was used on these pieces it had none of the connotations it has today, and was commonly used in many religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism. Condition Report: Very good. There is some minor wear commensurate with age. On one vase there is a small aged chip to the base rim (please see images) otherwise there are no cracks, chips, or repairs and both pieces look good with vibrant colours. Size: Each vase stands at 16cm (6.25 inches) tall. One is very slightly taller than the other. All measurements are approximate. Our Ref: A719 Shipped weight
