This was given to me several years ago by a " Kentucky Colonel" in Louisville, KY. probably somewhere around the year on the plaque. I have had it stored away for many years and only uncovered it recently. It is in pretty good condition with the exception for a few pin size missing pieces of paint on the black part of the plaque. I believe I retouched them before with a permanent black marker. The plaque has a silver plate at the top that says, " Kentucky Derby Authentic Thoroughbred Racing Shoe" and the silver plate at the bottom says, "Pleasant Colony May 2nd, 1981". He was probably the winner the year the plaque was made but I am not certain. That was a very long time ago and my memory is not what it was then. The plaque also has a horseshoe with Thorobred (that is the way it is spelled on the shoe so I assume that is the trademark) and a nail for the shoe. The shoe also has a 5 so I guess that is the size of the shoe that the horse wore. The maker of the plaque is listed on the back and can be seen on the last few pictures. If you have any questions just let me know and I will answer them as quickly as possible. We are a non-smoking home. Thanks,
