A beautiful 1950's vintage Keuffel & Esser Geologists Compass #5340, with leather carrying case, tripod/pole mount, and original 1956 sales receipt. Excellent operational and cosmetic condition, with very exact motion of the compass needle, clean face and bubble level, and smooth operation of the needle locking screw on the bottom of the unit (for keeping the delicate needle safe during shipping and transport). Even the leather of the carrying case is extremely clean and very flexible. These fine instruments were manufactured in Hoboken, NJ. I won't claim to be an expert, but based on other Ebay listings I have seen, this model of geologists/surveyors compass appears to have been offered by Keuffel & Esser since the 1930's, and was used by the CCC.
