Offered here for sale is this beautiful oil on Canvas Painting of a Gypsy woman holding up a tambourine. The Painting is signed on lower right Platonov signature in Cyrillic for the renowned Russian artist Khariton Platonovich Platonov, circa 1890. While untitled, this oil depicts a young gypsy woman holding a tambourine. Signed in Cyrillic appears on the lower right corner. In good condition considering its age. The stretcher of this painting was replaced by my father circa 1980 because it was badly damaged by woodworms. This work is sold framed but due to the size of the frame and its bad condition the painting will be shipped without the frame. If the buyer would be interested receiving the frame that seems original to the painting I would ship the frame at extra costs. This Platonov oil measures 32.5 cm x 55.5 cm ( 12.75” x 21.80” ), framed 50 cm x 73 cm ( 20.75” x 28.75” ). Without any Committee papers, I am selling this as “attributable” to the artist. This item is unique and one of a kind. It is neither a print nor any kind of mechanical reproduction. It is identical to the item that has been photographed for this auction. Biography:PLATONOV Chariton Platonovich 1841 ( Yaroslavl Province ) - September 5, 1907 ( Kiev ) Painter, graphic artist From a peasant family. He studied at the IAH (1859-1870). During the years of study was awarded a small silver (1862, Etude, 1867, drawing from life), a large silver (1866, sketch from nature) medals, in 1870 received the title of class artist of the 3rd degree. In 1872, for the painting "Gourmet" and the sketch "Head of a Peasant" approved at the rank of class artist of 2 nd degree, in 1884 for the painting "Maroussia," "tramp," "On the work" was the title of class artist 1-st degree. In 1893 he was awarded the title of Academician. Lived in St. Petersburg in 1879 - in Kiev . In his work was influenced by AA Kharlamov. He painted portraits, genre paintings of content; known artist brought images of "young girls with an expression of the elegiac mood" - female types of different nationalities in any circumstances and for different occupations: as a flower, the milk, fruit sellers, nischenok and so n .
