DESCRIPTION 's is one of the finest Paleo Square knives I have ever owned, and I have owned this one twice now, bought it, had it for a couple years, sold it, and about a year later bought it back, and have had it for another year or so. It was originally found by Paul Kline in the mid 1950's in North Dakota. It is ex Joe Russel, ex Myself (twice) and If it wasn't broken, I wouldn't sell it for anything shy of $1000. It is the "definition" of ancient craftsmanship, showing some of the finest paleo flaking and skills that I have seen on any tool, and it has several interesting qualities. The most important one is, that it was broken in ANCIENT times and the maker still kept both halves together, and somehow they stayed together for the next 10,000 years, the proof of this is "in the pudding" so to speak, if you look at pict #2, t is a yellow line & a red line I added along the bottom edge. The longer half (yellow line) shows resharpening all the way up to the break on one side only that is not on the other half (red line) , thus the piece was either broken during resharpening, or was resharpened affter it was broke, as the peice fit together perfectly, but t is less of one edge on the alrger piece as t is on the other, but all patinization is obvious and even, on the resharpened part too. If your are confused, just buy the piece and study it a little, you'll understand more once you see it. Another fine quality is the master craftsmanship it exhibits. It is 4 7/8" long and yet it never exceeds 1/4" in thickness, that's a work of art, takes a lot of skill to make something that large and yet that thin. Also, look at the ends, it is fluted from both sides of both ends, very very nice flaking. It is almost straight on one edge and curved on the other, making it fit in the hand as maybe a fleshing tool, hide scraper, I would bet this piece was a "swiss army knife" for the paleo hunter, it probably did any and every job that was needed, as it could perfrom any number of specifit tasks with ease. It is also cobered in mineral deposit patina and is unquestionably 100% guaranteed ancient & authentic for life. It also has a Jefff baker COA, grade 7.5, which is a high grade considering it is broken in half and glued!. 110% GUARANTEED ANCIENT, UNRECHIPPED, UNALTERED, AND UNRESTORED UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED FOR LIFE, AND ARE GUARANTEED TO PAPER BY DWAIN RODGERS, BILL JACKSON, TOM DAVIS, JERRY DICKEY, KEN PARTAIN, OR EVEN "JOE SHMO"-WHOEVER YOU DESIRE FOR 90 DAYS. That ought to cover EVERYBODY's taste. These are no brainer pieces, that were carefully collected over the years and are sure to please. Thanks & good luck.
