Kimba the White Lion Anime Cel Animation Art Kitty 1989 DESCRIPTION You are bidding on a rare original production cel from the 1989 remake of Kimba the White Lion. It was called Jungle Emperor (Jungle Taitei) in Japan and "The New Adventures of Kimba the White Lion",when it was released in the USA in 1998 by Pioneer Family Entertainment. Nice image of Kimba's future mate Lyra also known as Kitty. Cel included color copy background and paper mat as shown. This cel is now almost 20 years-old and in excellent condition with only a bit of stray paint, particularly around her ears and minimal traceline fade as expected in cels of this vintage. Overall size is 10 inches by 14 inches. Created by the Godfather of Japanese animation, Dr. Tezuka Osamu, Kimba the White Lion has been immensely popular in Japan since its first broadcast in 1965. English and Spanish versions were created in 1966, creating a worldwide fan base that persists to this day, particularly in the US, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
