My favorite Corgi sits atop this serving dish quietly self satisfied, displaying his championship blue ribbon for all to see! He's chosen the perfect place to pose, w he can't be missed - overlooking whatever you're serving. He wants to make sure you and your guests don't miss his accomplishments! Serving pieces, like this, are just one of the mainstays of my work over the past 25 years. I enjoy showcasing my artwork on usable items; items that make their way into your everyday life, that hopefully bring a smile as well. Cooking and entertaining are a great part of our family's lifestyle, and having unique and fun pieces for serving food makes the party more fun! When setting a buffet, I always incorporate my bowls, dishes, candlesticks and bud vases. Any and all animals appear on my table, from jungle themes to my cherished Corgis.

This Corgi rests nestled in a rock garden, with forget-me-nots flourishing about. His blue ribbon has a gold center, which is actually real gold I applied, requiring a third kiln firing. This piece measures 10 inches round; 4 inches to the ear tip; the Corgi is 4 inches long. Although when creating this I had dinnerware in mind, this platter would make a great centerpiece with fruit, or on a dresser/dressing table for combs, earrings, jewelry, etc. The platter, proper, is poured into a mold, and when released from the mold, I add my sculpted Corgi and all other details made from clay. This is one of my original, one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork, sculpted from clay, hand painted, and fired to over 2000 degrees. It is then glazed using a food-safe glaze, and fired for a second time, achieving a glossy, waterproof finish. Each piece is signed and dated by me, Susan Kimmel. I have been creating animal art most of my life, professionally for over 25 years. Thanks!
