King Arthur's Classic 'Sword in the Stone' Caliburnus Before the gift of the sword, Excalibur, from the Lady in the Lake, Arthur proved his right to the throne of England by pulling the sword 'Caliburnus', gleaming bright with magic and prophesy, from the stone in which it was magically imbeded. This sword was otherwise along the classic lines of swords found during this time period.This is an excellent reproduction of King Arthur's original sword, 'Caliburnus' with its clean, crisp lines, and early medieval detailing. The pommel is made in the traditional wheel shape, gently textured to catch the light and gleam. The cross-guard is a classic straight style with a central chappe or rain guard matching the pommel design. Both guard and pommel are a particularly bright, nearly golden, brass-tone, recalling the splendor of the sword as it rested in the stone. The grip, made of finely twisted steel over wood, contrasts with the bright brass, and is well textured for a firm grip. The stainless steel blade, shaped as a simple straight blade, is not edged. Sword measures 35" total length with a blade length of 26.5". The traditional design also makes this a nice replica for costuming and display. It does not come with a sheath.
