KING EDWARDS VII & QUEEN ALEXANDRA CORONATION ~ 1902 ~ FOLEY FBC MOUSTACHE CUP AND SAUCER

DESCRIPTION: Cup ~ on the Saucer ~ is 2.75 inches high and 6.0 inches across.

This fine bone china moustache cup and saucer was manufactured by Foley to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1902.

The cup features the Royal Standard with Britania and another figure on either side. At the top is a crown placed upon a purple cushion and "CORONATION JUNE 26TH 1902" above the entire design. On the back of the cup is the commemoration. Inside the cup is the image of a crown placed upon a purple cushion.

The UNIQUE and INTERESTING feature about this cup and saucer is the piece that transforms this cup into a moustache cup. This piece of the cup is in OUTSTANDING condition and the gilding along the edges is in excellent condition. T is gilding around the rim of the cup and on the handle which are also in excellent condition.

The fluted upper portion of the cup is also molded in "ridges". Within these ridges is some faint natural staining. This does not detract at all from the appearance of the cup.

The saucer bears the same design as the front of the cup and the entwined "E R" cypher with a crown at top. The rim of the saucer has gilding in excellent condition.

This cup and saucer is really in excellent condition for being 105 years old. And, finding a moustache cup in this excellent condition is an added bonus!
