KING GEORGE V ~ 1911 ~ ROYAL DOULTON ROYAL DOULTON STONEWARE JUG/EWER

CONDITION: EXCELLENT (no chips, no cracks, no restoration)

MANUFACTURER: ROYAL DOULTON

COMMEMORATION : THE CORONATION OF KING GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY 1911

DESCRIPTION: Jug is 7.5 inches high X 6.0 inches across.

This fantastic stoneware jug was manufactured by Royal Doulton to commemorate the Coronation of H.R.H. King George V and H.R.H. Queen Mary in 1911.

This is the "blue and green" stoneware that Royal Doulton manufactured in many different items for the Coronation. The rim and lip and handle have been "fired" in blue, while the body of the jug has been "fired" in green. (I apologize if the coloration of the photos do not show this)

The King is featured in one cartouche that has a crown at top, the national flowers along the sides, and the Scottish thistle at the bottom. This decoration, surrounding the cartouche, have been fired in blue to contrast against the green. The Queen is featured in the other cartouche with the same decoration as that of the King's. Across from the handle is a different decorated cartouche that bears the commemoration. Around the rim are four raised Tudor roses. The lip is in perfect condition as is the handle.

This jug is superb condition. On ebay, other stoneware items have appeared, but this one is a RARITY . Don't miss this chance to add this wonderful item to your collection!
