Offered for auction is this 1891 MODELO ARGENTINO ARMY SWORD BAYONET with SCABBARD. This was designed to fit the Modelo Argentino 1891 Mauser, manufactured in Germany under contract. This one was made by Weyersburg Kirschbaum & Co. This is a very well made bayonet and is also marked Solingen. This has the aluminum hilt which indicates it was made for the Army. Both Bayonet and Scabbard are marked with the same serial number. L5611 or L5811, I can't tell which one it is. The scabbard is dented and shows some rust. What appears to be part of an Argentine crest is above the serial number on the bayonet. As stated below, this one has been ground. You can barely make out part of the date and serial #. Overall length of the sword is 20-3/8" long. The sword blade is straight, single-edged and fullered on both sides. T is a little rust on the handle and crossguard. Otherwise it is in great shape. âeoeThis bayonet was designed to fit the Modelo Argentino 1891 Mauser Infantry Rifle, manufactured in Germany under contract.
