Offered for auction is this 1891MODELO ARGENTINO ARMY SWORD BAYONET with SCABBARD. This was designed to fit the Modelo Argentino 1891 Mauser, manufactured in Germany under contract. This one was made by Weyersburg Kirschbaum & Co. This is a very well made bayonet and is also marked Solingen. The blade is very clean for its age, and appears not to have been sharpened. This has the aluminum hilt which indicates it was made for the Army. Both Bayonet and Scabbard are marked with a serial number. Bayonet is F8130, and scabbard is N5275. The scabbard has a few dents, but is still in very solid condition. The Argentine crest is ground off above the serial number on the bayonet. Overall length of the sword is 20-3/8" long. They are extremely well made and usually found with an aluminum hilt - although some are found with brass hilts ( indicating "Navy" usage) - steel crossguard and hooked "blade-breaker" quillon.
