Kitmaster LMS Beyer-Garratt Loco 2-6-0 0-6-2 - Superb Well Built Loco unpowered Kitmaster LMS Beyer-Garratt Loco 2-6-0 0-6-2 - Magnificent Well Built Loco - unpowered - Very Rare. Be sure to add scotrailfirst to your favourites list! 00 gauge this is a very rare model of a Beyer-Garratt 2-6-0 0-6-2 loco (unpowered). this is a well built solid model (see photos) which is quite heavily weighted. it is not fitted with buffer heads. the revolving coal bunker does not have a spindle at the back and sits 0.1in lower on the water tank. it is not made to rotate on the model. the wheels and motion all turn freely which is important with this model. the loco is built to a professional standard and comes from a collection of 15 Kitmaster models all built to the same high standard. this is the largest of the set, at nearly 14.5 inches over the couplings (followed closely by a French loco). the matt black paint is airbrushed to a high standard (see photos), and lettering and numbers are excellent. the loco has been on display and is dusty. This is a very rare loco, only produced for a short period in 1961, and very few will be around which are built to this standard. See also the other superbly made Kitmaster models which we have listed this week. The LMS Garratt locos, dating from 1930, were designed to avoid double heading the Toton Brent coal trains and they were also used on the Hope Valley line. They are fitted with a revolving self trimming coal bunker. The loco design was compromised by the use of unsuitable standard parts. Withdrawals started in 1955 and were finished by 1958.
