Kiyoshi SAITO, 1907-97. Original woodblock print. , "SHISENDO KYOTO, (C)", in pencil by Saito at bottom margin. 1963 and 96/100 also in pencil bottom margin. Self printed, self published. Double signed in English in image and Japanese or kanji right margin, artist seal in Red. Excellent impression with slight over print by Saito at top , excellent condition, light washi paper backed, colors excellent, very fresh appearance, full margins. See pictures. From estate of US Navy officer stationed in Japan, who with his wife, collected pearls with Saito and became lifetime friends. Hence the "double signature" when he acquired prints directly from Kiyoshi. Modern graphic composition with delicate wood grains of the entrance to Shisen-do Temple (house of great poets) in Kyoto, Japan. I own several more of Kiyoshi Saito's prints, all "double signed", from same estate, I believe the story as it was related to me. double size or oban, 18 x 24.25 inches, (45.7 x 61.5 cm). $1 to START.
