hat's going on ? I just spent two incredible days in Middletown, MD at the estate sale of the late WILLIAM F. MORAN . If you don't know of Bill Moran then you probably shouldn't go any further Bill passed away at age 80 on Feb. 12, 2006. His estate sale was held on Oct. 6 & 7, 2006. Most of the contents of his shop & home were sold. Collectors came great distances hoping to go home with one of the 8 signed Moran knives to be offered. Hundreds of other knives, guns, tools, canes, knifemaking materials, misc. items & personal items were sold. While t I went into his shop to see his set-up...I kind of wish I hadn't. It was very sad to stand t and realize that Bill's forge is cold now and his big anvil is quite forever. It put a lump in my throat & I had to get out. I hope no one thinks unkindly of me for offering some of Bill's stuff on ebay. I have nothing but respect for him as did everyone who ever met him. He was truly a nice person. I was able to buy about 10 boxes of contents at Bill's sale and I will start putting it on ebay to give those who knew him or who own one of his knives a chance to have a small memento of Bill. No items will have a "reserve" and all items will be started out at a low opening bid so that everyone will have a chance to own a small memento from this legendary knife maker. I understand that t is no way for you to know that these items are actually from the estate sale of Bill Moran. I will include a copy of the sale notice from the newspaper or auctioneer and my receipt if I have one for an individual item. I have included a picture of the estate sale sign along with other pics taken at the sale. Beyond that you will have to take my word for it. THIS AUCTION; 's a batch of 7 large pieces of curley maple knife handle wood that came out of Bill Moran's shop. I believe curley maple was Bill's favorite handle wood. All the wood is very dirty from coal dust & soot from the forge. A swipe on each side thru a planer is all it needs. These are large pieces of wood. It runs from 10" to 11" long & 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick. 3 pieces are 6" wide & 4 pieces are 4" wide. NOTE: You are bidding on the 7 pieces of handle wood described above. The other pictures are for your enjoyment only. One is a picture of Bill's residence & one is of his shop. Both were taken on the days of the sale. S&H is $7.00 & I will send the wood via USPS Priority Mail in a strong cardboard box. Please keep watching for more stuff from Bill Moran's shop including more handle wood that I will put on over the coming weeks. Shipping discount for multiple wins if I can do it.
