"Choctaw" Bowie Choctaw were one of the oldest hunter and gatherer tribes in the Southeast of America. Choctaw accounts suggested their ancestors had known of mammoths in the Tombigbee River area; this suggests that the Choctaw ancestors had been in the Mississippi area for at least 4,000–8,000 years. Ancient Choctaw through their tradition (said) "they saw the mighty beasts of the forests, whose tread shook the earth." We made a bowie in honor of them. This is a hefty knife with an over all length of 9 1/2". The blade is 4 1/4". It has stainless attached bolsters and pommels. 3 -3/16 holes for handles. Recommended handle material size is 4" x 1 1/2". 3mm thick and sharpened. Bright polished. We make these in US 440c stainless steel. This steel is proven daily by our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has the best all temperature use. Very flexible steel and is not brittle under the harshest conditions. Extremely dependable edge unlike junk steel. We hardened the steel to a tested average Rockwell of 57 - 58. They can be hardened further if desired. Fit and finish is up to the maker. This listing is for one blank blade you add handle material.
