ITEM: An early tobacco jar complete with internal tobacco damper. See Snyder "Historic Flow Blue" p.29 for a similar 3 piece jar. SIZE: 9 iinches high with a body 5 1/2 inches across. WEIGHT: 1025 grams/2 1/4 lbs. MAKER: John, King, Knight. AGE: It has the mark of 1846-53. CONDITION: It has been well used. The main body has an old base chip. The lid has had a piece out and stuck back in. It also has another hairline from the rim upwards. The damper has a tiny rim chip and a rim nick. It has no crazing and as such remains a desirable item for the collector.
