Knights of St. John Hospitaller Ceremonial Sword steel Since the founding of the Order of St. John's, 900 years ago, many names have been used to identify it. Its history has been one of movement from one country to another, which has added to the proliferation of its names. At first, the knights were called the Knights Hospitaller (or Hospitallers), which described their mission. But they were also called the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, because of their presence in the Holy Land. After conquering the island of Rhodes in 1310, they became the Knights of Rhodes. In 1530 Emperor Charles V ceded the island of Malta to the Knights. And from that time, the members of the Order took the name that is still the most used today: Knights of Malta.This is a ceremonial sword with a carbon steel blade, it is not just a prop. The sword is 33 and 3/4 inches (overall) and 26 and 3/4 inches for the blade alone. It has an ornately cast brass cross guard (5 inches across) and features the eagle of peace on the cross guard. The pommel features a knight's helm while the handle is a simple white plastic. T is a silver chain that is attached at the pommel and at the cross hilt. The blade is 3/4 of an inch wide with a simple diamond shape. It has the words "Knights of St. John" etched into the blade on one side. The silver-toned metal scabbard has
