Knights of Pythias FCB Boston Hannah Dustin 1908 Medal

This is a great collectible medal from the Knights of Pythias 1908 Boston Convention in Haverhill, Mass. Two part medal has shoe on top with HAVERHILL, MASS. The bottom part is attached by chains and is the emblem of the Knights of Pythias, for the Boston Convention. The center has a coin celebrating Hannah Dustin, a Colonial New England Heroine.

Hannah Dustin was captured (1697) in a Native American raid on Haverhill, Mass., escaped from her captors by killing them in the night and fleeing in their canoe. After escaping, she went back and scalped the indians who captured her. She is believed to be the first woman honored in the United States with a statue.

This is a brass metal two part medal that consists of top pin - 2-1/4" wide. Botton badge is 1-5/8" diameter. Entire medal is 2-3/4" long. This comes from a collection of pins and badges from many organizations, so check my other listings for more badges from this estate. This is a rare find for a collection, don't miss out!
