Knights Templar Crusade Short Sword/ Long Knife/ Dagger The Templar were a group of monks who were commissioned to protect the pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land, and many of these monks were knights as well. Much mythos has formed around them as their history has faded into the past. The ornate beauty of this short sword acknowledges their rich history. The Crusaders or Maltese Cross is molded into the pommel surrounded by an ornate rope molding. The decorative work on the handle is remenicsent of the biblical chapbooks, popular throughout Europe at the time. The scrollwork molded into the guard is styled after the Arabic motifs popular in the areas in which the Knights Templar were stationed, matching the ornate scrollwork on the fittings of the sheath. An eagle representing the Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire is inset into the center of the guard. The sheath is black hard plastic faux-leather, the blade is a double edged straight blade. Total length of this beautiful reflection of the history of the Knights Templar is 22 inches, with a blade length of 14 inches. The blade is sharp and not recommended for combat use or sword play.
