This is for an original 1883 edition of " The Knockabout Club Alongshore " The Adventures of a Party of Young Men on a Trip From Boston to the Land of the Midnight Sun. By Charles Asbury Stephens . Published by Estes and Lauriat , Boston, 1883, 1882. Hardcover . Original pictorial paper over boards with titles to the cover and spine. Pictorial endpapers . with 100 Full-page illustrations printed on one side, plus many text illustrations. 240 pages. 7 x 9" tall.C. A. Stephens (born Charles Asbury Stevens , October 21, 1844-September 22, 1931) was an American writer of short stories and articles. Stephens was born in Norway , Maine. He attended Bowdoin College starting in 1866. For most of his career he was wrote for The Youth's Companion, and was their most popular and prolific contributor. Stephens himself estimated that he had written 3,000 short stories. The Youth's Companion put him through medical school so that they could have a staff physician to write scientific articles; he earned his M.D. from Boston University in 1887.The binding is loose with yellowing due to age.
