CONDITION REPORT:
This auction is for "1" Original 1996 Authorized Knoll Hat Trick Chair with Arms. The chair is in Phenominally perfect condition, both Structurally & Cosmetically. T are NO DETRACTIONS, period. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being highest, the chair is a Flawless 10.0. T are no repairs, no nicks, no chips, no splinters, no discolorations, no stains, no watermarks. T is nothing more I can say about the chair. All joinery and gluing is perfectly originally tight to tolerance. The chair is perfect, and that is it, as if it were fresh out of the box. Original Factory Stamping under the chair's seat is marked "Gehry 2/2/96". What's even more amazing, is the chair is exactly 11 years old, and already half way to being a True-Vintage piece!!!

Construction
Each chair comes stamped with the KnollStudio logo, Frank Gehry's signature and the date of production. Back of chair flexes for added comfort. Available with or without arms. Optional seat cushion, available in a variety of fabrics and leather. Construction: Hard white maple veneers in 2"- wide, 1/34"-thick strips; all wood grains run in the same direction for resilience. Laminated to 5- or 7-ply thickness with high-bonding urea glue. Contoured seat constructed of cross-ply maple for rigidity. Cushions are ?"-thick, high-resiliency foam. Glides are clear plastic with matte frost finish.

The graceful design integrates material with structure, transcending all conventions of style. The simple, sturdy beauty of this unique chair makes for an ideal dining room addition.

About Frank Gehry
Frank Gehry (1929-) was born in Canada and moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s. He established himself as one of the most prominent contemporary American architects with his open, curvilinear, diverse and sometimes playful West Coast style. In the last fifty years his work has become internationally renowned and his spontaneity and unexpected choices for structures and materials has brought a sustained energy to the fields of both architecture and furniture design.

Gehry studied architecture at the University of Southern California and then Urban Planning at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard, graduating in 1957. While at USC he began working for Victor Gruen and Associates, a position he held off and on until 1960 when he traveled to Paris with his family. He returned to America in 1962, excited by the work of Constantin Brancusi and Le Corbusier. He established his architecture office in Santa Monica, California. In the late 1960s Gehry, constantly looking to reinvent a material that had been deemed unsuitable for design and also dedicated to producing copious, affordable, environmentally responsible furniture, came out with his "Easy Edges" series.
