You Ultra-Modern GO-MOD Design Addicts are looking at an Original Pair of ~"KNOLL, NOGUCHI CYCLONE DINING TABLE"~ Ultra-Rare White Marble Top, Chrome Rods, Cast Iron Base TOP NOT MADE ANYMORE, DISCONTINUED c.1960's by Isamu Noguchi, 1953 for Knoll. Priced Today @ $1530.00 USD (in White Laminate) CONDITION REPORT: This auction is for a Knoll Noguchi Cyclone 36" Dining Table with Rare Marble Top. Dining Table is in EXCELLENT Cosmetic and Structural Condition. On a scale of 1 to 10; 10 being highest, this table is Structurally a 10.0, Cosmetically a 9.0. T are only the usual very slight scratches that you find on any vintage item, and nothing more, only the light scratching and t, chrome rods still very bright, and slight surface rust forming around the chrome rod connections at the base (a TRUE SIGN of Vintage Age, Real Environmental Patina). The underside of the Marble Top, still contains the Original Manufacturer's Label of Origin (Made In Italy), which matches my labels underneath my Knoll "Tulip" Table Marble Tops. You really couldn't ask for a better platform in the vintage original rhealm. Own one of the Museum of Modern Art's (MoMA) "Permanent Collection" Designs. Design Facts The Noguchi Cyclone table was conceived in 1953 as a rocking stool made of metal wire and wood. Noguchi's playful object was manufactured the following year in varying sizes, and later evolved into a table that became a companion piece to the Bertoia wire children's chair. At the suggestion of Hans Knoll, Noguchi's small table was enlarged to full size in 1957. Reintroduced by Knoll in collaboration with the Noguchi foundation, the design is now being meticulously produced from Noguchi's original drawings. The sculptural base consists of a column of chrome-plated steel wires set into a cast-iron black porcelain-finished foot. Knoll is the only authorized and licensed manufacturer and each piece features a signature plate under the table top bearing the KnollStudio logo and Isamu Noguchi's signature. All Inquiries, Email: About Isamu Noguchi (1904 - 1988) isamu Noguchi was a sculptor, designer, architect, and craftsman. He believed that through sculpture and architecture, one could better understand the struggle with nature. Isamu Noguchi was born in los angeles in 1904 to an Irish-American teacher and editor, and a japanese poet. Isamu Noguchi was raised in japan until, at 13, he was sent to the us to study. After winning one of the first Guggenheim fellowships in 1927, noguchi travelled to paris w he worked for six months as a studio assistant to the sculptor, Constantin Brancusi. Returning to New York in 1932, he made his name as a sculptor and portrait artist, as well as winning commissions for memorials, monuments and industrial designs. With his long-time friend, the visionary engineer Buckminster Fuller, he constructed models, planned outdoor projects, and investigated the ways in which people live and thrive in their environments. His inventive work also embraced settings for the Martha Graham Dance Company. He is best known for his abstract sculptures designed as adjuncts to architecture. An example of his environmental work is his massive red cube designed for the Marine Midland Bank Building, New York City. As a landscape architect, Noguchi created a large number of playgrounds, parks and gardens.
