CONDITION REPORT: Authentic Knoll Pedestal Group (Tulip) DIning Table in Excellent Structural Condition, and Good Cosmetic Condition. The actual Teak Wood Top surface of the Table is in good shape.Wood Top is free of chips and breaks, yet does have completely normal wear in the form of the usual day-to-day scratches (keep in mind this table is near 50 years old, and has served 3 generations of a family proud for daily use). Table Top Edges have a solid amount of wear and could easily be filled, sanded, and hand detailed to perfection. Base has the same normal wear in the form of the usual scratches to rilsan finish. T are 4 Knoll BR51 Fully Upholstered Chairs with Swiveling Bases in the photos, they are Official Knoll's, but they are not included in this auction. If you're looking for the "AUTHENTIC FEEL" of having a true vintage piece which looks like it was an original 1956 piece, then this is the table for you, because that is EXACTLY what this table is. Design Eero Saarinen, for Knoll International, 1956. Cast Iron Base, Rilsan Coating, Fiberglass, Upholstery. Made in USA by Knoll. Construction Base in cast iron, rilsan coated finish. Top in wood core and veneered in Bankok Teak. Serial #'s of design are located on the underside rim of the base. Collection In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. He designed the 1956 Tulip chair in terms of its setting, rather than a particular shape. "In any design problem, one should seek the solution in terms of the next largest thing." he said. "If the problem is a chair, then its solution must be found in the way it relates to the room..." In the Tulip, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure."
