Ko-Karatsu Guinomi Sake cup in Kutsu-gata (shoe shape). The heavy iron bearing clay shows ishihaze (exploded stone) and chirimen (rough surface like crepe de chine). The rim has been decorated with iron engobe under the glaze in Kawakujira (whale skin) style. The piece is difficult to date. But as - aside from the ishihaze - the clay appears rather refined, it will date most likely to the late Edo period. The wooden box (sugibako) is insribed: Kogaratsu Kujira Guinomi Width: 6.0 X 7.5 cm Hight: 4.3 cm Shipping: Germany $ 8, International $ 13 This is a private sale - no guarantees
