Ok. I Know little about helmets (other than the one that I wore in the Corps). But I will make an attempt to describe this one. I found several that seemed identical and all were listed under Korean war. This helmet is 8 inches deep and 11 inches front to back. It was used during the war and is marked MMS on the front and Owens on the back. Under the lip it has the numbers 871 and a Backwards D. It has the normal wear that you would expect with a very minor dent in the back near the top. Their is no liner but it does have a chin strap. the strap has a two prong latch and both straps are attatched to a side swivel. I will ship these Parcel post for 9.95 (2-9 days for shipping) or Priority mail for 14.60. (If you want priority please let me know when you pay). I will ship to Canada for an additional three dollars. I will ship within 3 working days (days the post office is open) of receiving your payment or refund your shipping and purchase price while allowing you to keep the product. I also want you to be satisified with your product. If you are not please feel free to contact me and we will find resolution. Please check my other auctions (I will combine shipping). Thank you, Kenny 1)are the chinstraps loops (on the steel helmet) style "A" or style "B" ? please see attached picture or following link. /p/2005-4/988147/swivel_fixed.JPG 2)The rim around the edge of the steel pot has a seam (a "split") due to the manufacturing process. This seam is located w the two ends of the rim meet. Is this seam in the front or the back of the steel pot? You might have to look very closely. The seam is usually very tiny and sometimes hidden below the paint layer. Please see attached picture or following link./p/2005-4/988147/split3.JPG 3) Are the chinstraps directly sewn around the loops, or are the chinstraps attached to the loops with a metal clasp? /p/2005-4/988147/metal_clasp_and_sewn.JPG 4) To the best of your knowledge, do you think that the helmet has ever been repainted? Signs of a second paint job could be: paint runs, different shades of paint. I will answer as best as I can. Style A Seam in the front Sewn onto the loops I can not find any signs of repaint. The helmet does have a slight textured feel. Under MMS the original MOS sign was blacked out (rectangle) and above the name Owens in the back the oringal name was blacked out. I am assuming that several soldiers or Marines used this helmet. I accept paypal, money orders, and cashier checks.
