We have collected Ching textiles for a very long time and are parting with some pieces which are of lesser importance to us in order to professionally frame and preserve our more significant pieces. We guarantee these items to be genuine Ching dynasty and please check our other auctions - we guarantee some very special items. A very very lovely Ching Dynasty formal dragon robe of Kossu (Kesi) silk. The majority of the robe is stable and quite presentable but the top of the robe around the collar has extensive damage and silk which has shattered, which poses a dilemma of whether to restore or use as a cutter. Personally, the way to display this item is from the back as the back is not faded and its presentation and size is really still breathtaking. Wonderful dragons and Buddhist precious symbols. Should you choose other than to display it, it would make some fabulous framed art or even throw pillows (being a Ching purist I could never allow myself to use a pair of scissors on it.) The front is significantly faded and dusty and could use a cleaning and some of the color should come back with some effort. It comes from a smoke free home. Horseshoe sleeves are intact and buttons are fabric. It's been folded up and in storage for many years and now it is time to part with it. Worth thousands if perfect.
