This samurai sword is a classic uchigatana of the Muromachi period. It is an ubu signed daito of 61.7cm by Bizen Yoshimitsu (備州長船能光). Yoshimitsu is one of more scarcely seen Japanese swordsmiths of the Sue Bizen school. I have attached a write up from the Token Bijutsu which discusses the rarity of this line, which apparently only ran for three generations. I do not have another reference beyond the attached, but the nakago has I think a very Eisho feel and I am guessing this is a work of the sandai. The sword is out of polish but enough can be seen to show that this has a beautiful choji midare hamon with a clearly seen utsuri.Nagasa: 61.7 cmMotohaba: 3.0 cmKasane: 6 mmSori: 2.2 cmAny questions, just let me know.
