A beautiful Krewe of Venus heavy 999 fine silver Mardi Gras doubloon. Weighs 30 grams. This one is from 1967. Some collectors do not know that these early Venus heavy doubloons were serial numbered. This particular doubloon is serial number 14. The number is stamped into the rim. These were not available to the public, strictly a members or friends item. Venus was the first and most exclusive parading ladies Mardi Gras Krewe in New Orleans untill they disbanded in the early 1990's. The Krewe was still using "Honoring historys sovereign queens" on the rear of their doubloon, this one depicts Mary Queen of Scots. As time moved forward, in later years, the Krewe switched to honoring our US first ladies. This is an amazing find for the doubloon collector and an interesting aquasition for the silver collector. Due to new Ebay rules, no United States Postal Money Orders will be accepted after Christmas 2008. I don't know what to say, ask Ebay. Some items with free shipping, very bulky items, or items with a note in the description usually cannot be combined, sorry for the pain in the rear. Communication to arrange payment by money order is requested upon auction end, to ensure smooth transition, Paypal buyers can send payment with shipping to get items on the way to them faster. Money order buyers please be expecting my email after your initial contact with me so final arrangements can be made. Seller accepts Paypal or Postal Money Orders only. Shipping insurance is optional but is highly recommended. Buyer to pay shipping unless otherwise specified in auction. Insurance is optional and will be at bidder's request and cost. Seller is not responsible for any uninsured items lost or damaged in shipping. Any claims to be handled by buyer. If your item is damaged in shipping, and you purchased insurance you must file a claim with your local post office. I keep all insurance forms on file and will send it to you along with a receipt for your item. Returns accepted only if the item is not as described in the E-bay listing. Ebay has changed its feedback, now t is a star rating. Although it states this does not effect the seller in anyway, it really does! I leave feedback once payment is received and urge buyers to do the same once they have inspected their new items. If you, as the buyer, for any reason, are not happy, and inclined to leave less than five stars feedback for me , please contact me right away by email so the situation can be resolved.
