Prior to WW2....The German Navy Enlisted Man... wore the KRIEGSMARINE Cap Tally tied around his Enlisted Cap......Prior to WW2..at Sea.. he would have worn one with the name of his ship.....BISMARCK....SCHARNHORST.....ETC.....but in Port....The German Navy did not want anyone to know what exact ship had come in from Patrol...this was for Security purposes.....so the Enlisted men changed and just wore the Cap Tally that had KRIEGSMARINE on it......We just got a number of these in direct from Germany w they had been stored for quite some time...These were remade back in the early 1960s for a German Militaria Dealer ..and we were very Lucky to buy his remaining stock after his Retirement.....They are in Mint....Unissued Condition....and will make a Super Addition to any WW2 Navy Display.....The Kriegsmarine letters are in Gold Script...exactly as they were when made back in the 1940s....They measure 1 1/4" Wide and 59" Long....They were worn around the Cap and tied in the back....and the "Swallowtails" hung down the Sailors Back........When I was stationed in Germany with the Military back in the 60s.....I remember seeing one weekend....quite a number of the Bundes Navy Sailors home on leave....and they wore the Navy Cap Tallies.....These are a Fantastic Collectible and I know you will thoroughly enjoy adding one to your Collection. ... read more
