This is a beautiful piece we bought at an antique shop but don't know its origin, though probably China. It is a representation of Kuan Yin (KuanYin, Kwan Yin or KwanYin, Qwan Yin or Qwanyin, Quan Yin or Quanyin, Guan Yin or Guanyin), Goddess of Compassion in Buddhism, also known as Avalokiteshvara. She is standing on a lotus flower above the waves, surrounded by the Chinese characters of the Heart Sutra carved in relief. These elements are on a wood plaque with wood "scroll" on top and bottom and a strong metal wall hanger. The whole piece, front and back, is painted in rich gold, reddish and other colors, muted with a dark patina and a good amount of dust. We never cleaned it thoroughly, not wishing to detract from the appearance of age, but it could be cleaned which would brighten the colors.Measures: 41.5" tall by 23" wide; weight is about 15lb.Shipping: I'll make a wooden crate for it once paid.
