Nirvana, Cobain, Disney and rock memorabilia fans alike will love this highly unique item. It's a CD display with a Kurt Cobain autograph mounted with it...the hand-written autograph ( not a copy) also includes the musing " Mickey Mouse is the Antichrist "...it has a funny story behind it. Back in the late summer of 1993, I was on vacation in LA with my finacee..one evening before we headed back to the hotel, I wanted to check out some guitar stores on the Sunset Strip. One of the stores I went into was a place called Voltage Guitars...a used guitar store about ...at that time...75 feet off Sunset on a side street (Voltage Guitars is now right on Sunset). It was evening, and no one but myself, my fiancee and the gentleman minding the store were t, pretty sure they were about to close. anyhow, as I'm struming one of their vintage Strats, this guy wanders in that looks like he's homeless...ripped Converse sneakers, dirty, unwashed jeans, shirt with several tears and holes...the whole thing. I didn't really pay too much attention until he came over and was checking out some old guitars hanging on the wall next to me....I then notice a limo driver standing right outside the door with a limousine parked on the street directly in front of the store. I look up, and Kurt Cobain is staring right at me. I look up and in my most intelligent statements ever say "hey, you're Kurt Cobain!" He laughed and said "yeah"...He then asked me if I had tried any of the guitars in front of me, which launched us into a lengthy conversation. I told him I was from Washington State as well, so we spoke of home for a while. He asked what I was doing down in LA, I explained that my fiancee had never been to LA and that we were going to Disneyland the next morning. We talked for about another 20 minutes, which was very cool.... very down to earth guy, very nice, he told me he was in LA shooting the video for "Heart Shaped Box", which he described as "a cheesy Wizard of Oz type thing" He said "well, I have to get going, but it was really nice talking with you"...to which I said "yeah, it really was, you're nothing like I expected!" again, he laughed. I then asked "hey, can you sign something for me, just as a cool reminder of this vacation?" He said "sure!" and picked up a business card, and signed the back of it. I didn't read it until he had already left the store. How cool that he signed it " Mickey Mouse is the Antichrist " because of what I told him about our plans the next day. It stayed on my corkboard in my office, until one morning, one of the guys I work with came into my office and said "have you heard?" I said "heard what?" he then replied "you better take your autograph home, it just became valuable"...and he gave me the tragic details of Kurt's death. I locked the card away for years , and after moving to LA thought, I really want to frame it and do it justice. I decided to frame it with a Gothic frame, and with the album he was shooting the video for at the time I met him... In Utero. The back of the display has a cut-out, so you can see the face of the Voltage Guitars business card. The framing was very expensive...a couple hundred dollars and change...but I wanted a fitting frame, and the matting is a black velvet. The glass is UV glass, so sunlight and other sources will not fade or change the color of anything under it. The display came out so good...looks like it should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....or a Hard Rock Cafe...it's still in immaculate condition. It probably will wind up in the R'n'R Hall of Fame someday, or some Disney executive's office. It would make a wonderful, unique gift for the hardcore Kurt Cobain / Nirvana fanatic in your world. I guarantee it's the only one on Earth like it....and t will never be another. It's a very important treasure to me, and I really, really hate the thought of parting with it. However, when you have a family, sometimes you need to make difficult decisions to be...
