ITEM: Original Hand Painted Japanese Albumen Photograph by Kusakabe Kimbei (Kinbei), Japan circa 1887 and was contained in an album containing many works by this artists. CAPTION: None CONDITION : Excellent to museum quality. No tears, repairs or creases. Excellent contrast with little to no fading or loss of contrast. Detailed and bold hand-coloring. This photograph has been professionally removed from the image which backed it, without damage. Scan accurately reflects condition of photograph. DESCRIPTION: A studio portrait designed to depict a street scene of women laundering kimono. However, both women wear traditional geisha make-up and one has the traditional geisha hairstyle.
