DESCRIPTION : "VINTAGE KUTANI FIGURAL LAMP in SATSUMA Style on PORCELAIN" ; this figural statue lamp is of a Japanese Goddess or Deity (halo) holding a covered jar or vessel, sitting on a bed of lotus blossoms (?), on the back of an elephant with it's trunk up; decorated in red, brown, black, and dark blue glaze paints; finely detailed in enamels of orange, brown, aqua blue, periwinkle blue, green, yellow, and white; heavy gold gilt decor throughout; some decorations are: a white dragon, leaves, blossoms, hearts, circles & dots, geometric shapes. The statue is on a rough hewn dark wooden oval base w/ felt lining, has quality brass hardware (iron tubing for wire), and newer wiring. Circa early 20th C.HALLMARK : Unknown.
