A very nicely made, looks to be silver, CSA stick pin. The stick pin is about 2 3/8" long over all, with a brass pin. The cut out CSA looks to be silver and has a nice patina. Part of a lot that I acquired with a named Southern Cross of Honor to James A. Parker, from Calloway County ,Kentucky . Parker, at the age of 19, enlisted as aPrivate in Company C, 33 rd Regiment Tennessee Infantry at Union City , Tennessee on Sept. 13, 1861. The 33 rd Infantry Regiment was formed in October 1861, near Union City , Tennessee . Company C contained men from Calloway County , Kentucky . It fought at Shiloh & Perryville, then was stationed at Shelbyville for a few months. This regiment lost 20 killed, 103 wounded & 17 missing at Shiloh & reported 33 casualties at Perryville. In Dec. 1862 the unit was consolidated with the 31 st Regiment. The 31st/33rd lost 23% of the 379 engaged at Murfreesboro . Parker fought at Shiloh & he was wounded in action on Oct. 8, 1862 at the Battle of Perryville & taken prisoner the same day. He was exchanged on Nov. 15, 1862 near Vicksburg , Miss. After the War he returned to his native Calloway County , Kentucky and became a successful jeweler & surveyor in Murray , Ky. He was a member of the H. V. Lyon Camp, #1259, of the U.C.V. He passed away on May 13, 1909 at the age of 65 at Murray , Ky. and is buried in the City Cemetery . Parker owned a jewelery store in Murray, Ky. after the War and and it was a long time business in Murray. A great addition to your collection, Civil War, medal or other wise.
