These are a set of L&IJ White, Buffalo , and NY Matched Pair of 3/8" Tongue and Groove Planes in very good condition dating from the mid to late 1800's. Tongue Plane Bed: Crisp stamp on the nose, the tail is stamped with a "1", " ¼", and a "6". A nice smooth sole with a couple of tiny nicks ahead if the throat, a small stain on the top, just the start of a couple of tight grain checks with minimal use wear marks. Tote: Excellent. Wedge: Excellent. Blade: Crisp stamp, 2" to the temper line, no chips or cracks with a few light clean smooth pit spots on the temper. Above the line are mostly casting inclusions. Grove Plane Bed: Crisp stamp on the nose, a hang hole, no chips, a little knot hole in the sole, minimal light use wear marks, with a couple tight grain checks at each end w the skates are located. The skates show no chips or cracks with some clean light smooth pit spots on each with a bit more on the inner skate. A couple of the screws look to have been replaced years ago. Tote: Excellent. Wedge: Shows some mallet wear and a small chip at the top. Blade: Measures 3/8" wide, 2" to the temper line, no chips or cracks with some light on the temper and moderate clean pit spots above.
