LOT # 93 Detailed Photos Estate Road Show L93 ANTIQUE AMERICAN C. 1860 CHAS PARKER CLAW AND GLASS BALL FOOT PIANO STOOL Item Description We are pleased to offer this Antique Adjustable Piano Stool with ornate claw and glass ball feet manufactured by the Chas Parker, Meriden, Conn. It has an adjustable height seat. The base is a nice solid turned hardwood center, with sturdy legs with a ornate claw foot with glass balls on each. No rust, nice finish, very solid. This is a very attractive antique piano stool from the mid 1800's era, that is in good age related condition with some wear to finish. Charles Parker and his younger brother, opened their first manufacturing factory in Meriden in 1832. Over the years they manufactured a wide variety of products from steam engines, train wheels and printing presses to piano stools. During the Civil War, Parker's Meriden Machine Company was under Union contract to produce 10,000 repeating rifles and 15,000 Springfield rifles. Parker began producing his own shotgun, referred to as The Gun of 1866. In 1868, Charles and his sons, Wilbur, Charles and Dexter started the Parker Brothers Gun Company, which continued as an independent company until 1934 when it was purchased by the Remington Arms Company.
