NICE~ LAKE SUPERIOR AGATES~7 # 5 OZ BEAUTIFUL~COLLECTIBLE~ASSORTED COLORS NICE GEMSTONES~LAPIDARY Up for auction is an assortment of some very beautiful Lake Superior agates. T is an approximate weight of 7 pounds 5 ounces in a variety of sizes: the larger agates range in size from about 5-1/4" down to 3-1/2" in circumference. The smaller agates are 1" down to about 1/4" across. Just look at the nice banding, some have quartz, & some are just nice and waxy in appearance in a variety of colors. T might even be a few eye agates in the lot. T are some real beauties that can't even be seen in the photo. These agates have been sprayed with water to better show their banding & colors--see the photo. You are looking at classic un-polished Lake Superior agates. The larger, good quality specimens are ready to slice, & open up even more beauty; was, the smaller agates can be tumbled, or en jo y them just the way they are. These are not run-of-the-mill agates. These agates were collected by my family, over the years, from Lake Elmo to Cloquet , Minnesota , to New Richmond, Wisconsin, in gravel pits & on gravel roads. The agates were part of the "red drift" glacial activity. These types of agates are highly desired & sought-after by many collectors. These agates will be an excellent addition to your collection. These agates would also be a good starter collection for a child who wants to do some tumbling, & maybe some slicing (with supervision, of course). Some of my previous buyers have used the agates in jewelry, aquariums, & terrariums. We just polish the agates & display them in small baskets & in clear glass vases. Kids love to look through them.
