Lakota Sioux ceremonial beaded breechcloth with very rare beads. Made from black trade velvet and fringe, exquisite beadwork with a unique floral pattern. Circa 1890 - 1900. These breechclothes were worn by chiefs on special ocassions. Many photographs taken in the late 1800's show them being worn to peace talks with government officials. This one is exquisite with no damage or moth holes.
