Two Original Zenith 36 IV Carburettors for Land Rover Series 2 and 3 This auction is for two 1967 Zenith Carbs. I believe both of these items are the original equipment of the vehicles from which they were removed. If so, they are some of the earliest Zenith carburettors fitted to the Land Rover 2.25 petrol engine. Carb A, on the left in the main picture, is from a genuine 40,000 vehicle. Unfortunately there was a gallon of filthy water in the petrol tank, and some of this was sucked through the carb. I have cleaned the unit and replaced all the jets and gaskets, but it was still running a bit roughly and probably needs a professional rebuild. The last straw was when I pulled the brass fuel inlet tube out of the upper body while trying to remove the fuel pipe. I think I still have the brass pipe and the bracket for the choke cable, and these will be included for the winner. Carb ,B on the right, is from a 90,000 mile vehicle and works perfectly. Cosmetically it's a bit tatty, with a vintage repair to the fuel inlet pipe, using what appears to be glazing putty. Again, a bit of sympathetic refurbishment would be beneficial, although I'm confident that you could just bolt this one on the manifold and drive away if needed. These are original Zenith units, not the cheaply made modern pattern carbs that warp and leak from day one. read more
