Your journey begins as you delight in the homes and shops along Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, the capital of England's Virginia Colony. , the picturesque homes, shops, and taverns of the town are brought to life by a shrill fife and a rat-tat-tat of the drum, the clip-clop of horses, and conversations among laborers and trades people. Join us in Colonial Williamsburg for a peek at a town that shaped the America we live in today. Nicholson Store In colonial times, the Nicholson Store was one of the many commercial establishments lining Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg. Robert Nicholson, a tailor and merchant, built a “Wood Store two Story 34 feet by 20 feet” for a tailor shop and general store. Its full two-story construction differentiated it from other town shops, although the building had a typical English layout for that period. The front salesmen spanned the first floor with a private counting room at the back. The second floor was for living and storage. This building is one in a collection based on the historic restoration at Colonial Williamsburg Item measures approximately 9” x5” x 6” This item is in excellent condition in original box with original Styrofoam.
