This auction features an exceptionally large Victorian silverplate flower vase made by Lawrence B. Smith Co., Boston, Massachusetts in the 1880's. It is marked with their hallmark and LBS Co. which was founded in 1887. They were makers of sterling silver and silverplated wares. It is in the shape of a large basket with a moveable handle, pierced decoration, bows and forget-me-not and rose swags on both sides of the vase. It measures 18" tall with the handle up and 12" tall with the handle down. At its widest point it measures 10 1/8" wide. It has no indentations and the only place that I can see any missing silver is on the two tiny buttons that attaches the handle to the vase. It is in excellent condition. This piece has been gently hand polished with a silver cream and a soft cloth. We never use "quick dip" products on our silver.
