You are bidding on what we believe is an 18th or early 19th century French barometer. The dial face is made of paper & has been hand decorated in ink. This barometer is the Reaumur type & was made in Lyon. The large floral Rococo frame is made of a gold gilt gesso wood frame. There is a large hand forged iron bracket on the back used to hang the barometer. The barometer is just over 30" long & is no longer working, the glass tube on the reverse is broken. The overall condition is good but there has been some work done to it. The screws holding the bracket are not original (one looks like it may be an older hand cut screw) & the item may have been painted sometime in its past. The ink on the dial has oxidized to a nice rust color & its a bit faded. The glass over the dial needs to be cleaned & there is wear throughout. If you need more info or pics just email us.
