A Large Blanc-de-Chine Figure of Buddha, finely modeled standing on a short lotus pedestal, wearing long flowing robes tied at the waist leaving the chest bare and elegantly draped over his arm, holding in his left hand a round jewel and with his right arm outstretched to the side in bhumisparsa mudra, the face with a serene expression beneath the tightly curled hair and framed by long pendulous ears {Height: 18 7/8 inches (48 cm)} He is the color of porceilain from Ming to Early Qing when they would lay our the porcelain in the sun for many years before using it so it was a beautiful color not pure white. When they ran out of this sun-treated clay the Blanc de Chine were then profuced in pure bright white wich we see in most of Qing Dynasty and also in Republic Period. His color and glaze are very indeed. The gourd dehua mark is on his back as well as a four character mark with in a square faintly visable. He is qute heavy but not chunkey or too thickly potted.
