Titled "Calli e Canali," the scene is busy with gondolas and other boats or small ships. Size of the image is about 10 by 13 inches, the engraving plate impression about an inch larger. The mounting board is about 14 1/2 by 20. The image is printed on thin cardstock which is mounted to fiberboard. Printed in the lower right is "Venezia, Ferd. Ongania, Editore." The number "76" appears in the upper right. The photo is not dated but is certainly pre-1900, maybe pre-1890. The original edges of the board have significant chipping, but the damage is no closer than 1 1/2 inches from the engraving impression. T is a crack in the right margin that intrudes about 1/4 inch into the engraving impression but does not reach the image. The image itself has some soiling and a few scrapes and slight gouges. Despite the flaws, this remains an attractive vintage view of the world's most beautiful city. High bidder to pay $6.00 toward priority mail shipping. Insured or international would be additional.
