Newton Magic Lantern A late 19th Century Mahogany & Brass Large Magic Lantern by Newton & Co with an 8 1/2 in projection lens in good condition by J Wrench. The early electric lamp is in working order and I am also including 2 screw thread new 100 w halogen lamps as spares. Also included is a wood slide changer for 3 1/4 in sq glass slides. The base is in two layers hinged at the rear so by turning the large screw at the front end the lantern can be highered if necessary. The dimentions are;- Base,- 25 in x 10 in Height including fluted chimney- 19 in. Weight ,- 13 Kilos. Please note , the lantern top has been altered to take the correct fluted chimney as someone had previously enlarged the hole , no doubt to fit an overlarge chimney which was missing when I obtained the lantern. The focusing Rack & Pinion works well and the large condenser lens is clear and undamaged. This is a very heavy and large item and will be costly to send outside Europe.
