Offering a really nice example of a L & B G Chace Stoneware crock. This Somerset crock is similar to the crock now listed # 320250978453 ending soon. You will still be able to refer to this listing after the auction ends. Just input the # in the search. Although our crock is a much larger 5 gallon and has a brilliant cobalt double floral arrangement. Our crock also HAD similar damage to the left upper quarter but this one has been professionally repaired. A local restorer of fine china and porcelain did the work. I am sure he would not mind a plug but we have not worked with him in a few years. I will call him Bob G., Bob has done work for area Museums. Such as the New Bedford Whaling Museum and upper crust clients in Newport. We have seen his shop and many projects he had been working on. He is a perfectionist and an artist at his trade. He actually rebroke (like a Dr. would) any hairlines/cracks that went to the back left quarter and used a special bonding agent made for this material. It is hard to see w he did his restoration work. The crock is actually stronger than new in the restored area. This crock even has its orginal ring! It took him several weeks and me lots of $ to bring this beauty back to its glory! You can be assured that a professional restoration will attain the wares value and integrity for many years to come. We will be happy to discuss Bobs work to any bidders who may have questions. This restoration process was briefly explained and most of you collectors know of this process. This crock now has no damages at all. Other than visual restoration markings that are hard to see. We show a closeup of this area in photo #8, #9 and #10. Most of all the original crocks textures and colors are fantastic! The greyish, tan and brownish markings are very earthy and have a nice glow. The cobalt markings are the best and original. The rest of the photos show well. You will be happy to have this crock in your collection! We will not ship this crock. Pickup will be the only option because of the weight and size. We do NOT want to see this beauty damaged again!!! Meeting half way is an option within a reasonable amount of mileage. Paypal or cash payment since this is a pickup auction. Reserve amount for this auction will reflect our investment. If you do not feel comfortable with our description. A request to review this crock before you make any serious bids may be arranged.
